Class Code 0042
Landscape Gardening

Class code 0042 is used for employees that work in the field of landscape gardening, including drivers. This would be inclusive of workers who do the laying out of grounds as well as those that plant trees, flowers, shrubs, or lawns. Sod installers and those doing sodding, seeding, and planting on roadsides are also included, even if work is done in connection with street construction. All work performed within this class code, especially clearing and grading, must not result in changes to the land’s contour. Any worker that engages in excavation, filling, or backfilling would be excluded.

In addition, work within this class code is to involve new landscaping installations, and not maintenance work on existing landscapes. Workers classified under 0042 may engage in the spraying of fertilizers and pesticides, as long as it is not a significant part of the job.
